Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano, PRO-10 director, shared their operational accomplishments to the media at Camp Vicente Alagar here, crediting their success to a three-pronged strategy: supply reduction, demand reduction, and inter-border cooperation. “Enforcement must be borderless and no longer jurisdictional,” Abrahano said. The important thing is that Northern Mindanao benefits from our campaign against illegal drugs,” he added. The PRO-10 commander reported that 1,641 operations from January to June resulted in 1,908 arrests. Authorities confiscated at least 20 kilograms (kg) of shabu and 3.5 kg of marijuana, with massive hauls recorded in this city and Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental. Addressing the region’s internal security, Abrahano admitted that Northern Mindanao has yet to completely eradicate the communist insurgency, despite neutralizing 123 guerrillas and seizing 88 firearms during the first six months of the year. “Officially, no. We are leading to that, but there are still rebels,” he said when asked if the region was insurgency-free.
