Cops hunt man, 40, and blue van after dad, 56, attacked & ‘murdered’ in ‘violent’ street brawl – as 10 arrested

A MAN and a blue van are wanted by police after a dad was attacked and allegedly murdered in a violent street brawl. Athony Paul Jones, 40, is wanted in connection with the chaos that took place in Pontnewynydd, Wales at around 7.15pm on August 6 which has led to the arrests of ten men. A further three men were also taken to hospital, with two said to be critically injured. Since the father, from Brecon, passed away a murder investigation has been launched. A manhunt is underway for Athony Paul Jones from Blaenavon, Torfaen, as cops believe he can assist with the investigation. Ten men, aged 31, 33, 34, 39, 40, 40, 45, 59, 61 and 73, have also been arrested in connection with the violence, and three men aged 39, 45 and 61 have since been released on bail. Senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Laura Bartley said: “We recognise that reports of this nature will cause concern in our communities, but our officers are working around the clock and conducting enquiries as part of this live investigation. “We’re trying to establish the movements of those involved both before and after the disorder and are asking motorists who were driving along Hospital Road, Mill Road and the surrounding areas between 6pm and 9pm on Thursday to check their dashcam footage. “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the victim.” Anyone with information on Anthony Paul Jones, or the blue Ford Transit van’s whereabouts, has been urged to submit information via the Major Incident Public Portal or contact police quoting log reference 2600255536.
