Cop family, neighbour clash over toilet construction, stick fight caught on camera

A dispute over the construction of a toilet outside a house in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi escalated into a violent clash between two groups, with men and women seen attacking each other with sticks in a video that has gone viral on social media.Several people were injured in the clash, which took place on September 27 in Shahzadpur village. A police constable posted in UP's Auraiya is among the three people named in a case registered by police.HOW THE CLASH STARTEDAccording to a complaint filed by the victim, Janmati, the three accused, identified as constable Ramu Maurya, Sunil Maurya and Shyamu Maurya, are her neighbours.Janmati told police that the three were constructing a toilet in front of her house. When she objected to the construction, an argument broke out. She alleged that the accused abused her and then brought out sticks from the house and assaulted them. Janmati and her brother-in-law Ajay were among those injured in the clash.Ramu Maurya is a constable posted in Auraiya district and was reportedly in the village on leave when the incident took place.VIDEO OF FIGHT GOES VIRAL A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing people from both sides attacking each other with sticks. Women can also be seen participating in the fight.The video was recorded by someone at the scene and later circulated on social media. After the video went viral, the incident drew police attention.Police reached the spot after receiving information about the clash and the injured were taken to hospital by ambulance.CONSTABLE AMONG THREE BOOKEDBased on Janmati's complaint, police registered a case against Ramu Maurya, Sunil Maurya and Shyamu Maurya. The case includes the constable, who is currently posted in Auraiya.Kaushambi Additional SP Amita Singh said a case had been registered after the video of the assault surfaced.
