Protein-maxxing, but make it spiritual? But have you ever heard of a “Sanatani protein breakfast”? A content creator is putting his own spin on the internet’s current obsession with protein, and his morning meal comes with a side of his spiritual belief.Tamal, who goes by the username mantra_saadhana on Instagram, says he is a vegetarian bodybuilder and a follower of Sanatana Dharma. He often shares glimpses of his diet, fitness and spiritual routine on Instagram and YouTube. Recently, he shared what he eats for breakfast, describing it as a “Sanatani protein breakfast” in the caption.Protein is one of the most essential nutrients, as we all know. Including it in your breakfast can help keep you fuller for longer, support muscle repair and maintenance, and provide sustained energy throughout the morning. For people who work out or strength train, getting enough protein throughout the day is particularly important for muscle recovery and growth. So, what does Tamal's "Sanatani protein breakfast” look like? His plate includes tofu, yoghurt, tomatoes, cucumber, an apple and bread. In the video, he describes the meal as being “high in protein”. How much protein one needs differs from person to person (Photo: Pexels) Tamal cuts tofu into small cubes and cooks it in ghee with jeera (cumin), hing(asafoetida), and haldi (turmeric), before adding salt and black pepper. He then mashes the tofu slightly and lets it cook for a few more minutes. Alongside this, he has yoghurt, tomatoes, cucumber and an apple, with some bread. Sounds pretty easy-peasy to make. But the content creator follows one ritual that he diligently observes: offering his breakfast to the Gods. He adds tulsi leaves to the plate and takes it to the altar at home. According to him, once the offering is made, the food becomes prasad, which helps “purify your consciousness”. Basically, it’s protein, a little tadka and a side of his spirituality to start the day.As for Tamal, he is originally from Israel and moved to India with his family in 2009. He spent 12 years studying at a traditional gurukul in Mayapur, West Bengal, where he says he learned Sanskrit, Vedic mantras, puja rituals and havan. He graduated in 2021 and now performs havans and yagnas, chants mantras and creates content around his spiritual life.- Ends
