Conner Leavitt Was Asked About Mikayla Matthews Quitting ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ After ‘Dancing With the Stars’—Here’s What He Said

Conner Leavitt was the first celebrity eliminated from Dancing With the Stars season 35, and as a result, he was pretty much thrown into interviews right after the show. Which means, naturally, Conner was asked about Mikayla Matthews quitting The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (an announcement she made just a few days ago).“It’s a tough decision; Mikayla helped build The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” Conner told Entertainment Tonight. “She’s been around since Season 1 and before that. So for her to make the decision, it must come from a really honest place, which I can respect. I can’t imagine anyone’s really thrilled to see her go, I know I’m upset to see her go. But I hope her and her family, I wish them all the best. Mikayla was in the audience today coming out to support. I have a soft spot for everyone in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Those are our friends.”Mikayla announced her departure from SLOMW on Instagram, saying she made the decision over a week ago “after hearing some news.” She didn’t elaborate, but said “I’m not comfortable being a part of something that continues to platform behavior I don’t agree especially given my own experience growing up in a home with multiple forms of abuse. There’s no amount of money worth going against my morals or changing the stance I’ve had since I first saw and heard the things that made me feel this strongly. And for me personally, continuing to directly profit from this behavior feels wrong and unethical.
