Conference MDAngle offers personal perspectives from conference attendees, showcasing their anticipation, quick takeaways, and insights into how the presented research will affect their patients. The joint ACTRIMS-ECTRIMS 2026 meeting will be held on October 21-23 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. For clinicians treating relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS), the late-breaking abstract session will feature phase 3 findings from the REMODEL-1 and REMODEL-2 trials of the Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitor remibrutinib vs teriflunomide in relapsing MS, as well as analyses of fenebrutinib’s effects on paramagnetic rim lesions and slowly expanding lesions across the phase 3 FENhance 1/2 and FENtrepid trials. Other program highlights include an educational session on the practical application of AI tools for MS care, as well as hot topic sessions on socioeconomic determinants of health, discontinuation of treatment, and novel imaging biomarkers. Together, these sessions will offer an overview of the expanding evidence base and ongoing priorities in MS management.Shiv Saidha, MDProfessor, Department of Neurology, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, MarylandPreconference ConsiderationsACTRIMS-ECTRIMS 2026: Previewing BTK Inhibitor Data in RRMS Previewing new data in RRMS, Dr Saidha reviews the phase 3 REMODEL-1 and REMODEL-2 studies, which reported that remibrutinib significantly reduced annualized relapse rates and MRI lesion development vs teriflunomide, with a trend toward delayed 3-month confirmed disability progression and nominal statistical significance for 6-month confirmed disability progression in top-line analyses. Full data are needed to define the magnitude and clinical relevance of disability outcomes, comparator-arm performance, event numbers, and hepatic safety. He also anticipates new data on fenebrutinib, which met the annualized relapse-rate endpoint vs teriflunomide in the phase 3 FENhance 1 and 2 trials and was noninferior to ocrelizumab in FENtrepid. Analyses of paramagnetic rim lesions and slowly expanding lesions in the late-breaking session may clarify fenebrutinib’s effects on MRI markers of chronic active inflammation.Quick Clinical TakeawaysComing soon: Dr Saidha highlights new data and progress regarding disease-modifying therapies for RRMS immediately following ACTRIMS-ECTRIMS 2026.How Will My Patients Benefit?Coming soon: Reflections on how new data on disease-modifying therapy from ACTRIMS-ECTRIMS 2026 will affect RRMS patient care.ResourcesMDAngle Index
