File pic | Photo Credit: GOPAKUMAR S The Health department will prepare a comprehensive master plan for the development of three major health institutions in the capital city — Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital, Peroorkada Model District Hospital, and the Peroorkada Mental Health Centre (Happiness and Wellness Centre), Health Minister K. Muraleedharan, said here on Thursday. Infrastructure Kerala Limited (INKEL) has been entrusted with the task of preparing the master plan.A site survey and assessment to evaluate in detail the existing facilities and development potential at all three institutions will begin shortly. Mr. Muraleedharan has directed the Principal Secretary (Health) to secure the necessary permissions for this. The master plan will be prepared after a detailed examination of the condition of existing buildings, infrastructure, available land, various treatment and allied facilities, and future development needs. The plan will also include recommendations for upgrading the institutions’ current facilities and suggestions that will enable the comprehensive development to meet future requirements.As part of preparing the master plan, INKEL will conduct detailed surveys and site assessments at all three institutions at its own expense. Based on the information gathered after the surveys are completed, a comprehensive blueprint for the development of the institutions will be prepared, the statement issued by the Health Minister said.
