Completely fabricated, not me: Actor Shalini Pandey's post after fake AI video

Actor Shalini Pandey has spoken out against a fake AI-generated video of her that is currently being circulated online. Calling the video “completely fabricated,” the actor urged people not to share or engage with the content and condemned the misuse of technology to target women.The Jayeshbhai Jordaar actor shared a note on Instagram and clarified that she had no connection to the video. She wrote, “I want to address a fake AI-generated video of me that is currently being circulated online. The video is completely fabricated and does not depict me. It is deeply disturbing to see technology being misused in this way to target and harm individuals, especially women (sic),” she wrote.Adding, "I strongly condemn this kind of abuse and believe this kind of misuse of technology should never be normalised. If you come across this video, please do not share, forward, download, or engage with it. Instead, please report it immediately. I request everyone to be responsible and mindful, and help stop its circulation rather than giving it further reach. Thankyou! (sic).”Shalini is the latest Indian celebrity to speak out against the growing misuse of AI and deepfake technology. Several prominent names, including Rashmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh and Sachin Tendulkar, have previously been targeted by deepfake content. Earlier this month, Mrunal Thakur also addressed the issue after fake content featuring her likeness surfaced online. She called the creation and circulation of deepfake material “illegal and unacceptable” and warned of legal action against those misusing her identity.Shalini, who made her acting debut with the 2017 Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy alongside Vijay Deverakonda, later appeared in films including Mahanati, Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Maharaj.
