Complaint against Tamil Nadu BJP chief over remarks on CM Vijay's mother

The complainant has sought the police to preserve digital evidence, investigate the remarks under relevant legal provisions, and initiate appropriate criminal proceedings for defamation and public misconduct.The complaint comes amid a political row triggered by Nagendran’s remarks on Saturday at the BJP’s state headquarters, Kamalalayam, in Chennai where he took a swipe at Vijay over the chief minister’s earlier “kutti kathai” (short story) targeting DMK president MK Stalin.Speaking at the party event, Nagendran mocked Vijay’s repeated references to “father” in the Assembly, saying that those wanting to know “where their father is” should ask their mother at home rather than look for the answer in the Assembly. The complainant has described the BJP leader’s remarks about Vijay and his mother as derogatory and sought legal action against him. The complaint also urged the police to examine and seize the audio and video recordings of the event as part of the proceedings.The controversy stems from Vijay’s earlier remarks in the Assembly following the DMK’s defeat in the April 2026 Assembly election. The Tamil Nadu chief minister had narrated a “kutti kathai” that made a humorous reference to the whereabouts of Udhayanidhi Stalin’s father, in an apparent reference to the DMK president’s defeat in Kolathur.Several political parties, including the DMK, had criticised Vijay’s remarks at the time.
