The day has finally arrived. Five-star Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor School running back David Gabriel Georges is set to announce his commitment Wednesday. Gabriel Georges has been the top target on the board for Tennessee for the duration of the cycle, and this has been a heavyweight battle for months. The No.23 prospect in the Rivals rankings took an official visit to Tennessee the weekend of June 5th, following a trip to Ohio State the previous weekend. He ended his official visit slate with a stop at Ole Miss before canceling his final official visit to Georgia. Tennesee has kept the gas pressed for months in this recruitment, as they have worked tirelessly to impress Gabriel Georges and his family each time they have been on campus. Now, the wait is over, and the Vols will get an answer on their top target on Wednesday evening when he announces his commitment in front of family and friends. The who, when, and where of David Gabriel Georges’ commitment announcement Finalists: Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Tennessee When: 5:30 p.m. Where to watch: Commitment will be streaming on 247 Sports live from Baylor School in Chattanooga. What has he said about Tennessee recently? “It was great spending time with coach Sims and being around him this whole time,” Gabriel Georges told Volquest in an exclusive interview following his official visit. “I got to spend time with Coach Heupel. I was able to be with JT (Jamyan Theodore) and Gabe and see what’s going on with them here at Tennessee. I spent a lot of time with them this weekend. They have a really great fanbase,” Gabriel Georges said following his official visit. “It’s really great to see what they do to make me want to come here. It was nice to see the Rock, and they put my name on it and spelled it in French. Just the people here are really nice.” The Skinny At the end of the day, one of these three teams is going to be thrilled. Ole Miss is a finalist, and the Rebels got an official visit, but they are just not a likely option for the five-star prospect in my estimation. This has been an Ohio State and Tennessee battle for months, with both jockeying for position at the top. To this point, Gabriel Georges has not told either school his choice. We will see whether he does so prior to his announcement or lets them watch the live stream to find out. There are a number of reasons why he could choose either one of the two schools. He has long-standing relationships with both programs; the football fit has been evident, and both programs have recruited him throughout his recruitment. For Tennessee, the Vols have continued to check boxes for some time. The Vols got DGG to campus more times than any program, and they have built strong relationships with his entire family, while also showing him a clear football development plan. Tennessee also has multiple close friends on the roster in Gabriel Osenda and Jamyan Theodore. Josh Heupel has been highly active as a head coach in the process as well, which has played an important role throughout the recruitment. Now, the rubber meets the road, and Tennessee will wait for an answer and hope for the news they want.
