Friday is Macon (Ga.) Howard four-star safety Ta’Shawn Poole’s day. The No. 72 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings will announce his commitment on Friday evening. Georgia has become a late contender for the four-star playmaker. Poole took an official visit to Georgia on June 19. That weekend was originally scheduled to be a visit to Miami. The in-state powerhouse offered early in the process. Things cooled and began to heat up a bit in recent weeks after Poole took his official visit. Now, Georgia waits as Poole prepares to make his decision late on Friday evening. Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Florida State at the moment. The Seminoles have a 91.5 percent chance of landing the four-star safety, according to RPM. The who, when and where of Ta’Shawn Poole’s commitment announcement Finalists: Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee When: 6 p.m. Where to watch: Commitment will be streaming on 247 Sports. What has he said about Georgia? Poole has held an offer from the Bulldogs for much of the last two years. There has been a lot of communication and time in Athens for the four-star safety. Let’s take a look at what he has said about the in-state program throughout the years. Most memorable quotes “Number one is them just being a hometown school,” Poole told DawgsHQ. “Knowing that I’m from Georgia, in-state is big…The atmosphere really stood out. So with the crowd and then, watching the position I play and watching KJ Bolden, seeing where he’s at in the defense and where I’ll possibly be at if I commit there.” Ta’Shawn Poole, Nov. 11, 2025. “Playing for a coach who can possibly develop me and get me to the NFL quickly, maybe first round, late second round, doesn’t even matter; just being developed by Kirby is what stands out,” Poole said. “It means a lot. There aren’t really many coaches out here who have played defensive back at the highest level. And then, you know, as a head coach at that. So, with him knowing the position, a lot is what stands out.” Ta’Shawn Poole, Nov. 10, 2025. The Big Picture Georgia does not have a defensive back committed as of now. That is very un-Georgia-like. The Bulldogs signed a strong 2026 class of safeties. Tyriq Green, Jordan Smith, Zech Fort and Blake Stewart are all entering their freshman seasons in Athens. There’s a group of older players in place as well. KJ Bolden, Ja’Marley Riddle, Khalil Barnes, Zion Branch and Resean Dinkins all come into the season with playing experience of some kind. The safety position is one that Georgia likes to stock up on competition. Landing Poole would be a huge boost toward adding another competitor to the group of Green, Smith, Fort and Stewart. The Bulldogs are also recruiting four-star Adryan Cole and Seth Williams hard as well. Cole will announce his decision on Saturday.
