Comedian Zach Zucker To Unveil ‘Stamptown’ Variety Special On Netflix In August

EXCLUSIVE: “Bad boy of clown” Zach Zucker has announced that his popular late-night variety show Stamptown has been tapped for a Netflix special that will premiere August 25, amid Stamptown‘s 10th year at the Edinburgh Fringe. Described as a raunchy and chaotic fever dream, Zucker’s Stamptown special is a love letter to everyone who ever helped him and his collaborators along the way. Everyone who welcomed them into their homes, all venue bookers, cities, festivals, and all of those who have come to see them over the past decade. Based on a format from Zucker, who serves as host, the special taped at The Montalbán Theatre in Los Angeles over three shows at Netflix is a Joke Fest this past May. It features special appearances by Neil Patrick Harris, Viggo Venn, Jordan Gray, Natalie Palamides, BriTANicK, and others to be revealed. Watch on Deadline Rachel Lee Goldenberg directed the special, with Zucker directing the live show, also exec producing alongside Jonny Woolley, Dylan Woodley, and Jeremy Elder from Stamptown, Dave Kneebone and Janel Kranking from Abso Lutely, Kevin McCollum and Lucas McMahon of Alchemation, Ethan Stern, and Rachel Lee Goldenberg. Producers of the special included Lily Dawford, Laoise Holohan, Cory Peter Lane, Lucas Tamaren, Spencer Vickers, Kirsten Zastrow and Emily Zolten Jillette. All music in the show is original, hailing from the band Thumpasaurus and its frontman, Lucas Tamaren. A carefully curated collection of comedy, circus, music, dance, magic and clown, along with additional non-traditional performances, Stamptown has amassed a cult-following by celebrating and platforming boundary-pushing acts. Zucker created the show — taking its name from Étampes, France, the village where he attended the renowned École Philippe Gaulier clown school — after repeatedly being turned down by traditional comedy venues, thereby establishing a home where unconventional performers and alternative acts could thrive. An award-winning performer and producer, Zucker has been touring the international comedy circuit for the past decade. He’s one half of Norwegian-American clown duo, Zach & Viggo, and frequently performs as his standup alter-ego, Jack Tucker. He released the special Jack Tucker: Comedy Standup Hour, performed as his alter-ego, in April. It’s currently in the Top 60 films on Letterboxd and is the highest rated comedy special on the platform. Zucker’s Stamptown has packed out rooms at Netflix is a Joke, Just for Laughs, Glastonbury, SXSW, Lincoln Center, Edinburgh Fringe, Soho Theatre, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, O2 Arena and Off-Broadway in New York City. His show has also been spotlighted by The New York Times, Time Out, Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, The Times, Evening Standard, Telegraph, NY Post, British Comedy Guide and Chortle. As a producer, Zucker has received four Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Awards nominations, working with acts such as Riki Lindhome, Jordan Gray, Randy Feltface, BriTANicK, Courtney Pauroso, Martin Urbano, Michelle Brasier, Garry Starr, Ike Ufomadu, Emily Wilson Josh Glanc, and many more. He’s also appeared in a variety of films and TV shows, including The Joe Schmo Show on TBS, the New Line/HBO Max romantic comedy Sweethearts, 20th Century Studios’ Swiped, Roxy Sorkin’s debut feature film Hot Year, as well as the upcoming Joey Power-directed romantic comedy Love Language. Zucker is repped by Ethan Stern, UTA, Bloc Talent Agency, and Ziffren Brittenham.
