Next week’s midterm elections will give voters in a couple of Democrat-run states the opportunity to roll back transgender ideology and protect children from the injustice and medical malpractice Democrats are allowing to be inflicted upon them.Voters in both Washington state and Colorado will be able to choose to keep male athletes out of girls’ sports. Transgender activists in Washington are panicking about the possibility of the ballot measure, Washington Initiative 638, passing, falsely claiming that it will require every female athlete in the state to undergo invasive genital exams to confirm their sex. The possible sex verification methods allowed by the proposition include genetic testing, such as the simple, noninvasive cheek swab, that is already required for the world’s best female tennis players. Along with voting to protect girls’ sports through Proposition 134, Colorado voters can also help protect gender-confused children from the transgender medical establishment through Proposition 135, which would, according to the Colorado Sun, “prohibit doctors from performing surgeries on minors to alter their sex characteristics. It would also ban state or federal funds, Medicaid or private insurance coverage from paying for such surgeries.” The proposition doesn’t even go so far as to ban cross-sex hormones for children, merely banning the permanent surgical disfigurement of “transgender” children in the name of “gender-affirming care.”AOC DOUBLES DOWN ON RADICAL TRANSGENDER ACTIVISMThis will be the first real opportunity for voters in Democrat-run states to break with the Democratic Party’s approved stances on transgenderism. It is a central tenet of the Democratic Party that girls should have to sacrifice victories, roster spots, and locker room privacy to boys who have been told they can be girls, despite polling showing that two-thirds of adults support a law keeping them out of girls’ sports. Democratic ideology dictates that children must be allowed to receive permanently disfiguring sex-change surgeries, while nearly 60% of voters would support a federal ban on such procedures.Colorado backed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election by 11 points, and Washington backed her by 18. Thus, Washington Initiative 638 and Colorado’s Propositions 134 and 135 will provide voters with the opportunity to show just how out of step Democrats are on this issue. Children should not be props used by transgender activists and Democratic politicians to advance their agendas, and the primarily Democratic voter bases in both states have a chance to send that message loud and clear.
Colorado and Washington voters must reckon with transgender athletes and surgeries
