Cole Palmer finally admits Chelsea pal Morgan Rogers DID use trademarked celebration first after ‘bailiffs’ joke

A CLASSIC case of ‘who did it first?’ vs ‘who did it best?’ Cole Palmer has finally admitted to using his pal Morgan Rogers‘ celebration, but insists it was he who made it famous. Now though, that the close pals have been re-united at Stamford Bridge having played together at Manchester City as kids, Palmer has opened up on how it really came about. Sign up for the Football newsletter Thank you! Speaking to CFC+, he said: “I can’t remember how it came about, we were speaking about it and he told me to do it. “He did it first. He played midweek, then we played Luton on the Saturday and I told him I was going to do it. I bet he wishes I didn’t do it now! “He did it first, but I made it famous! That’s the truth. He says that as well!’ Palmer and Rogers have long been friends in football, with their relationship going back to their days in the academy together at Manchester City, alongside the likes of Romeo Lavia and Liam Delap who are also now at Stamford Bridge. They formed something of a friendly rivalry over the past few seasons, with Rogers previously admitting that Palmer is the first person to text him after any good performance, and that the pair regularly stay in touch despite a battle to be the best. When the Blues and Villa met two seasons ago, and Chelsea won 3-0, Rogers messaged his mate with a simple request: ‘No goals against Villa.’ Most read in Sport BEST FREE BETS AND BETTING SIGN UP OFFERS Palmer’s reply was colder than the celebration itself: “Player of the match is coming back with me.” It did – and Palmer made sure everyone knew it, cheekily posting the private exchange on Instagram, alongside a picture of his trophy. The Chelsea number 10 also joked with Rogers that he would have the ‘bailiffs’ at his door if he pulls out the move at Stamford Bridge, before telling fans what they want to hear: that they will be doing the celebration together. Palmer said: “We’ve never spoke about it! I’ve trademarked it so if he tries to do anything, he’ll have the bailiffs at his door!” Now though, the pair couldn’t be happier to be playing together once more, and both looked on fire in a shooting drill posted by the club on social media yesterday ahead of their first game of the season at Stamford Bridge tomorrow – a friendly against Real Sociedad. And Palmer also spoke about the moment he found out about his mate joining the Blues, while Rogers was on World Cup duty with Reece James and England. Palmer added: “I got a missed call and he messaged me straight away that I had five minutes to ring him back. I’m thinking, ‘He must need to tell me something”. “I went downstairs and I rang him. He told me he was coming, but I didn’t believe him at first. He told me and I was gassed.” Comment now
