The incident happened amid heavy rains and flooding and made rescuers work for hours to safely extract the venomous reptile.The clip, which has since gone viral on social media, took place in Surat's Adajan area. The motorcycle had been parked when the venomous snake quietly slithered into the narrow spaces between the bike's fairing, headlight assembly and engine. The owner was in for a shock when the cobra was spotted as he attempted to start the motorcycle.Word of the unusual discovery spread quickly, drawing a large crowd to the spot. Curious residents gathered around as the situation unfolded, creating a brief commotion in the busy area. Recognising the risk, locals alerted Surat-based snake rescuer Dhaval Bhandari, who arrived with his team to handle the situation. The rescue proved far from straightforward. Hidden deep within the motorcycle's compact bodywork, the cobra kept moving between different sections of the bike, making it difficult to reach. Using snake hooks, torches and meticulous precision, the rescuers carefully tracked the reptile's movements while ensuring neither the snake nor the motorcycle was harmed. After hours of patient effort, the team successfully removed the cobra and secured it inside a plastic container.The successful rescue brought immense relief to the bike owner as well as the crowd that had anxiously watched the operation. According to officials, the cobra will now be released safely into its natural habitat in accordance with forest department guidelines.The incident serves as a reminder that even as floodwaters recede, hidden threats can linger.
