(Image: X/@CMOTamilnadu)Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Friday conducted a surprise inspection at the Puzhal Central Prison here to assess the basic facilities, medical care, food quality and vocational training centres provided to inmates. He also interacted directly with inmates to understand their needs.An official release said the Puzhal Central Prison is recognised as one of the country's largest jail complexes. During his visit, Vijay inspected several key facilities at Puzhal Central Prison-1, including the quarantine zone, visitors' hall, prison hospital, de-addiction rehabilitation centre, classrooms at the Mahatma Gandhi Community College, library, advanced computer training centre, high-security block and execution area.The Chief Minister then visited the vocational workshops, where inmates produce iron vegetable racks, paper envelopes and office file folders.Vijay also reviewed the powerloom division, which manufactures blankets and other textiles, as well as the tailoring unit. He personally checked the quality of food served to inmates and interacted with them to hear their concerns and requirements directly. Following his prison visit, the Chief Minister visited the M-3 Puzhal police station.
