CM Rekha Gupta flags off 200 e-buses in Delhi, revives Ladies Special services

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Wednesday flagged off 200 electric buses, taking the Delhi Transport Corporation fleet to nearly 6,800 buses. The new buses include 56 Ladies Special services for university areas and other routes with high demand among women.Gupta also launched a public EV charging station at Rajghat Depot-I and five fully electric, air-conditioned inter-state buses on the Delhi-Karnal route. The route will have 10 daily trips in each direction on the around 133-km one-way corridor.Addressing a gathering, Gupta said, "Among all the initiatives being launched today, ladies special buses are the most important for me personally and the government. During my student days, I remember using university special buses to travel to college and home, but for the last 28 years, these buses were not available."Under the plan, DTC will run 30 Ladies Special trips on 15 high-demand routes and 26 University Ladies Special trips on 13 routes. With the latest addition, Delhi's overall bus fleet will have 4,938 electric buses and 1,750 CNG buses, Gupta said, adding that the city has the highest number of electric buses in the country.
