Clueless Sequel Series Starring Alicia Silverstone Coming to Paramount+

As if! Paramount+ has greenlit a Clueless sequel series, with original star Alicia Silverstone reprising her role as Cher Horowitz from the original movie. Production is set to begin in Los Angeles in 2027. “Picking up 30 years after the original film, beloved Beverly Hills icon Cher Horowitz has figured out a lot,” reads the official logline. “She’s successful in business and has mastered motherhood — that is, until her daughter’s high school years, and Cher finds that parenting a teenager makes her feel ‘clueless’ all over again.” Buy Clueless on 4K via Amazon Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The OC, Gossip Girl, Nancy Drew) are writing the series with Jordan Weiss (Freakier Friday, Dollface). All three will serve as executive producers alongside Silverstone and the original film’s writer/director, Amy Heckerling. The project was originally in development at Peacock in early 2025, but the streamer dropped it earlier this year. According to Variety, Paramount+ has given the series a six-episode order. Clueless celebrated its 30th anniversary last July with a cast and director reunion at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The classic teen comedy was also selected for the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry earlier this year. This isn’t the first Clueless series. Rachel Blanchard took over as Cher for a three-season show, also titled Clueless, after Silverstone was unavailable to reprise the role.
