Civil Aviation Minister Sameh al-Hefny met on Friday, September 11, 2026, with International Finance Corporation (IFC) Regional Director for North Africa and the Horn of Africa Ary Naim, IFC Egypt Country Manager Saad Sabra and IFC Infrastructure Projects Specialist Mohamed Mehni on the sidelines of the EIAS 2026 International Airshow and Space Exhibition in El Alamein city, northwestern Egypt, to review the latest developments in the tendering procedures for the management, operation and development of Hurghada International Airport under a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme. The minister said the project comes as part of the Egyptian state’s directives to continue developing the civil aviation sector, enhance services provided to passengers and improve the overall travel experience. al-Hefny praised the IFC’s role in providing technical and advisory support for the project, highlighting its international experience in preparing and implementing public-private partnership projects. For his part, Naim affirmed the IFC’s commitment to continuing cooperation with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and supporting the project during its upcoming stages, contributing to the completion of the tendering procedures in accordance with international standards.
