CHVRCHES Unveil New Single “Overthinker”: Stream

CHVRCHES have shared “Overthinker,” the second preview of their forthcoming album All The King’s Men, out January 22nd via Futures ✦. Listen to the new song below. Where lead single “Roses” took aim at the state of modern Britain, “Overthinker” turns inward. The song is carried by the sweeping and aching vocals of Lauren Mayberry as she ruminates on family relationships and the contradictions that come with loving someone who can be both, as Mayberry puts it, “your shelter and your storm.” The accompanying lyric video solidifies that symbolism with a half-deflated bounce castle that repeatedly rises and collapses as CHVRCHES unleashes driving synths and electronic textures. Get CHVRCHES Tickets Here The track arrives after CHVRCHES played an intimate charity show for 100 fans at Assumption Studios in Glasgow, the converted church where the trio recorded All The King’s Men. The album marks their first full-length since 2021’s Screen Violence and follows a pause that began after the band wrapped touring in 2023. For their return, Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty ditched the remote process behind Screen Violence and reconvened in Glasgow for a series of intensive three-week recording sessions. The resulting 11-song album finds the band pulling from British and Scottish influences ranging from Massive Attack and PJ Harvey to Nick Drake and Bert Jansch while pushing beyond their initial synth-pop palette. CHVRCHES will support the record with an extensive 2027 tour beginning February 13th in Philadelphia and running through North America before heading to the UK and Ireland in April. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 30th at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.
