Estranged wife Sharon said: “I am furious. I had suspicions about affairs going on for years. He just walked out of the manse.” We told last year how the cleric had left his manse in Springburn, Glasgow, to join the Old Catholic Apostolic Church — and was calling himself Father Casey. But in a blast at the Church of Scotland investigation into infidelity claims, he hit out: “They have said it’s an extra-marital affair with, amongst others, Helen Carroll. All of which is c**p. “I’m suing the church for that accusation. I’ve spent £40,000 on a lawyer. “I moved out of the manse in April 2025 and we got together the following month. We started to see each other as friends and it turned into something more. “Don’t think we are having rampant sex everywhere we go because that’s not true. We still see each other two or three times a week. He continued: “My relationship with my wife broke up in 2021. Church law is that I’m not allowed to leave the manse. “So I slept on the couch for the last four years of our marriage.” Helen helped Rev Casey — who once dressed up as Captain Kirk to lead the funeral of a Star Trek superfan and even gave a Vulcan salute — set up the St Jude’s Community in the city last year. Months earlier, he was supported by members of his Springburn congregation in a fight to keep his job as minister amid claims he was being forced out as part of a restructuring drive. Despite his claims that their marriage ended in 2021, his wife Sharon wrote an article backing her husband that was posted to Facebook in March last year. She said it was “heartbreaking to watch the man you love” struggling to sleep due to “stress, pressure and uncertainty”. Ms Carroll, who runs a community hub, said she was employed by the Church of Scotland after working with Rev Casey during the pandemic, but left in 2024. She said the couple then became involved in a wellbeing cafe in early 2025. She told The Scottish Sun on Sunday: “I started seeing him in March, April last year. It sticks out like a sore thumb that as soon as he moves out of the manse, we start having a relationship. “It’s not true that I broke up his marriage.” A Church spokesman said Rev Casey is “currently under administrative suspension pending the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings”.
