Published Aug 21, 2026, 11:08 AM EDT Jeff Dodge (he/him), a published author and graduate of Western Washington University, has been a TV news editor for many years and has had the chance to interview multiple reality show stars, including Randy Jackson, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum, Mel B and John Cena. Fun Fact: he’s been to every single Idol Live! Tour. The Blu-ray and digital release date for Christopher Nolan's blockbuster film The Odyssey has seemingly been revealed. After being released in theaters on July 17, The Odyssey quickly became one of the highest-grossing movies of the year, second only to Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Just this week, the adaptation of Homer's epic poem surpassed Deadpool & Wolverine's $1.338 billion to become the highest-grossing rated R film of all time. To date, The Odyssey has earned $1.35 billion. After that box office success, the big question now is when the film will be released on Blu-ray and digital platforms—and the answer has seemingly been revealed. Blu-ray.com lists The Odyssey's Blu-ray and digital release date as November 17, 2026, which is exactly four months after it debuted in theaters. The website lists the Blu-ray as being a two-disc set, with the 4K edition having three discs. Potential special features have not been revealed yet. ScreenRant reached out to Universal for confirmation and has not received a response as of the time of this writing. Movies typically become available on digital platforms ahead of their physical releases. However, Nolan's previous film, Oppenheimer, came out on both platforms on the same day. If the November 17 release date is correct, it would align with the same four-month timeframe for Oppenheimer. Also, Universal didn't announce the details of that movie's home release until about a month beforehand, so fans might have to wait until October to get an official announcement should the studio follow the same trajectory. Nolan is the critically acclaimed filmmaker behind such movies as Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Memento, Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk and Tenet. His latest big-screen project, The Odyssey, was one of the most anticipated movies of 2026. The hype for this film began a year ahead of time when Universal started selling tickets to 70mm screenings for opening weekend, which quickly sold out in many locations. Filmed entirely with IMAX cameras, The Odyssey stars Matt Damon as Odysseus as he ventures back home to his wife, Penelope, following the Trojan War. Damon's co-stars are Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Elliot Page, John Leguizamo, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Samantha Morton and Himesh Patel. Aside from directing, Nolan also produced the film with his wife, Emma Thomas. Not only has it been a box office hit, but The Odyssey also received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics, who gave the film a Certified Fresh score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. This means The Odyssey is tied with The Dark Knight and Memento as the highest-rated film of Nolan's career. Oppenheimer is just behind those three at 93%. The Odyssey's audience score is even higher at 97%.
