Adam Driver has officially confirmed his role in Heat 2, revealing that he will portray the upcoming crime thriller's main antagonist while also providing a very positive update. During an interview on The Rich Eisen Show, Driver confirmed that he will play Otis Wardell in the highly anticipated follow-up to Mann's critically acclaimed 1995 film Heat. The actor's announcement comes more than a year after rumors surfaced about his involvement. Reports in October 2025 claimed that he was in discussions to join the cast. Now, after a ton of speculation, Driver has publicly confirmed that he will be in Heat 2 and his character, officially ending any doubts about his role. This isn't Driver's first collaboration with Mann, who previously directed the star in the 2023 biographical drama Ferrari. The upcoming film will reunite the pair for a very different story, with the Star Wars actor taking on a role in the crime thriller. He also expressed his enthusiasm about reuniting with Mann and praised the incredible ensemble cast he assembled for the project. Driver also discussed Mann's condition after he accidentally shot himself in the leg at a Los Angeles gun range. The director was hospitalized following the incident, which reportedly occurred when a firearm accidentally went off while inside its holster. Mann's representative previously confirmed that the injury was superficial and that he was being treated. According to the actor, he contacted Mann immediately after learning about the accident. The actor explained that Mann had already returned to work the following day, implying that the director was doing ok. Driver also revealed that Mann has a lot of experience handling firearms and even participated in competitive shooting in the past. However, the actor said that he did not know all the details or what caused the accident. Unlike a traditional sequel, Heat 2 will explore the events both before and after the original movie. The upcoming adaptation is based on the 2022 novel of the same name, written by Mann and Meg Gardiner. The book follows the original characters while introducing additional ones whose stories connect to the storylines of its predecessor. More to come...
