Chris McKenna Calls ‘General Hospital’ Exit “Disappointing”: “But This Was A Gift”

Chris McKenna is opening up about his exit from ABC‘s General Hospital after joining the daytime soap in 2025. The actor played Jack Brennan, replacing Charles Measure starting in February 2025. McKenna’s time on GH came to a close when his character was killed off after the WSB chief was found dead in the Metro Court pool. “This is the third soap that has either written me off or killed me off,” McKenna said in an interview with TV Insider. “I did my last episode in June, so I’ve had a few months to adjust.” McKenna made his daytime debut on ABC’s One Life to Live in 1990, playing Joey Buchanan. Years later, he would return to The Young and the Restless in the role of Det. Mark Harding. In 2016, he made a guest appearance on The Bold and the Beautiful, playing Dr. Hayden. Watch on Deadline Despite his time on GH ending, McKenna says he’s “really grateful,” adding, “It’s disappointing how it’s ending right now, but this was a gift. Between my son being born and having this place to go to work for the past couple of years, this has been just a fantastic time, and it’s been so much fun.” “I got to be introduced to an entire new legion of soap fans who weren’t familiar with me, got back into the daytime world and did some powerful work I’m really proud of, so it’s been a great experience,” he continued. “I have no complaints.” McKenna was hopeful for his future, telling the publication, “I’ll always look back on this with pride and with joy. I’m going to mourn Jack with everybody else, and this may be the end for Brennan, but Chris is doing fine, and you’ll see him very soon.”
