BRUSSELS - Belgian authorities on Aug 24 said the body of a child had been found that appeared to be that of a five-year-old boy who went missing in June with his father.Police have been hunting for Tymeo Brigou and his father Bryan, 29, after the pair were last spotted in the town of Onhaye in southern Belgium on June 27.“On Aug 24, at around 11am, based on a new witness statement, the Federal Judicial Police discovered the body of a child” near Onhaye, prosecutors said in a statement.“At this stage, the child has not been formally identified. However, items found at the scene suggest it could be Tymeo.”The authorities said that despite significant resources being deployed to the area they had not been able to track down Bryan Brigou.“At this stage of the investigation, the circumstances and causes of this child’s death are not yet known,” the prosecutors said.“As has been the case from the beginning, no lead is being overlooked, and all hypotheses are being thoroughly investigated by the investigators.”Belgian media had earlier reported that Bryan Brigou had been wearing an electronic bracelet at the time of his disappearance due to a sentence for violent acts.His car was found abandoned in Onhaye after the pair were reported missing.Police had earlier refused to say whether they believed that Bryan had abducted his son.
