Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to roll out the Sanjeevani project, aimed at strengthening healthcare services through digital health records and Artificial Intelligence-based interventions, across Andhra Pradesh from January 1, 2027.Reviewing the project with the officials on August 26 (Wednesday), Mr. Naidu said the initiative should be implemented effectively to bring about a major transformation in healthcare delivery and make Andhra Pradesh a model for other States.The pilot project already being implemented in Mr. Naidu’s home constituency Kuppam and Chittoor district has produced encouraging results, according to the officials. The State government now plans to extend the programme across all the 28 districts.90-day action planOfficials informed the Chief Minister that a 90-day action plan had been prepared for the State-wide rollout. The plan includes a baseline study, creation of digital infrastructure, training and certification of healthcare personnel, and integration with national and State-level health portals. Medical and healthcare staff across the 28 districts will be trained as part of the programme.Mr. Naidu said the government was introducing initiatives such as Sanjeevani to reduce the financial burden on families, which spend a substantial part of their incomes on education and healthcare. He asked the Tata MD, the project’s official partner, representatives to contribute to innovations in the healthcare sector.Data privacyEmphasising the need for predictive, preventive, curative and cost-effective healthcare, the Chief Minister called for greater use of AI-based healthcare services, including an AI doctor system. He also stressed the importance of protecting the privacy and security of health data, and developing dashboards for effective monitoring.Healthcare services should also encourage changes in food habits and lifestyles, Mr. said, while calling for appropriate use of ayurveda, homoeopathy, yoga, pranayama, and modern medical technology.Mr. Naidu also directed the officials to improve sanitation and outsourcing services in hospitals and evolve a mechanism to remove service providers who fail to deliver efficient healthcare-related services. He also suggested developing a system to send health updates directly to the citizens’ mobile phones.Positive results in KuppamThe officials said that the Sanjeevani programme had shown positive results in Chittoor and Kuppam. According to data presented at the meeting, 56% of hypertension cases had been brought under control, while severity of diabetes reduced in 16% of the cases. The utilisation of primary healthcare services had also increased significantly, they said.In a survey conducted to assess public feedback, 91% of respondents said awareness of their health had improved after availing of the Sanjeevani services, the officials said.The programme is being developed as an AI-enabled healthcare system covering the entire cycle, from screening and diagnosis to treatment and follow-up.Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, Health Secretary Veerapandian, Joint Secretary Ronanki Gopalakrishna and representatives of Tata MD attended the review meeting.
