VELANKANNI RAJ After passengers expressed displeasure over cancellation of the opening of the plaza at Chennai airport on Saturday, Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu will virtually open the facility from New Delhi on Sunday. Since January this year, air passengers have been wanting Airports Authority of India (AAI) to open the plaza, since it has been identified as the alternative cab pick-up point. Many air passengers landing at the T1 Domestic Terminal have found it inconvenient to reach the primary cab boarding point at the airport owing to various reasons. The plaza’s opening, which was slated for September 12, was deferred since Mr. Naidu had to participate in the BRICS Summit. After The Hindu reported that the event was to be postponed again, air passengers took to social media and vented their disappointment. Following this, on Saturday, the AAI said the Minister will virtually launch the facility on Sunday.AAI officials said the facility was ready and will be put to use post the inauguration at noon. “There will be staff to direct vehicles and guide passengers after the launch,” an official said.
