Chelsea’s last ‘bomb squad’ member leaves Stamford Bridge after costing Blues £2.5million per game

CHELSEA have at last waved goodbye to the last-standing member of their infamous ‘bomb squad’ from January. In the last window, Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana made up the last three players who were training entirely away from the first team, with Sterling then having his contract terminated. He has completed a move to Swiss Super League side Servette, who Chelsea fans formed a friendship with, funnily enough, after playing each other on their way to winning the Conference League. The Blues released a statement which read: “David Fofana has completed a permanent transfer to Swiss Super League side Servette. “The 23-year-old signed for the Blues from Molde in January 2023, scoring 17 goals and providing three assists during his time at Chelsea and on loan. “We thank David for his efforts during his time at Chelsea and wish him well as he begins a new chapter in his career.” Fofana scored 22 goals in 39 games for Molde to convince Chelsea to spend £10m on him back in 2022. But the Blues won’t be making a profit on him like the Norwegians did. Molde got him on a free transfer from Abidjan City. Fofana then had FIVE different loan spells during his time at Stamford Bridge as he struggled to convince the powers that be to give him a chance. Four of those goals did come for Burnley in the Premier League where he played 16 games. Xabi Alonso continues to trim his squad as the transfer window approaches its climax, but will Enzo Fernandez also leave the club? The Argentine was left out of the club’s victory over Brighton and Manchester City are prioritising adding him to their squad.
