Chelsea loanees suffer nightmare week as calls grow for wonderkid, 19, to be recalled from Champions League side

CHELSEA’s loan army were a mixed bag this week, despite NONE of their ones to watch actually winning a game. Only Benoit Badiashile’s Napoli earned a victory, but he did not play any part in it. Fans are calling for one of Chelsea’s most exciting attacking prospects to be recalled over a lack of minutes. And it was a nightmare week for Axel Disasi at Crystal Palace – although his team-mate seems to have a bright future at Stamford Bridge. This is how the best of the Blues loanees got on last week… Ryan Kavuma-McQueen Ryan Kavuma-McQueen’s late Championship cameo for Portsmouth brought a much-needed spark to the goalless draw at Charlton. But the 17-year-old Chelsea loanee had only 17 minutes to make a difference. Most read in Sport Kavuma-McQueen sent a rocket from way out that flew just over the bar, but the final whistle blew with the youngster storming down the wing. Shim Mheuka + Landon Emenalo – Celtic Mheuka was subbed on in the 77th minute, with Celtic already losing 3-0 to Rangers in a Scottish Cup edition of the Old Firm derby. The game was already lost by the time he came on, and it would have taken real heroics from him to turn it around. Emenalo was not named in the squad and has not yet played a minute for Celtic. Jesse Derry – Sporting Derry has been an unused substitute in Sporting’s last three matches against Nacional, Galatasaray, and Famalicao. Despite a bright start to the season, he seems to be losing out on a place in the squad and fans are demanding he is recalled to be sent elsewhere. He would even be better off playing minutes for Cobham Next Gen than not playing for Sporting, who hammered Arsenal’s Under-21s last weekend. Filip Jorgensen + Dario Essugo + Genesis Antwi – Strasbourg Genesis Antwi and Filip Jorgensen have been thoroughly impressive since joining Strasbourg on loan, drawing 1-1 with Monaco on Saturday. With a lot of talk about Malo Gusto underperforming at Chelsea right now, there will be plenty of eyes on Antwi this season. He was solid as Strasbourg became the first team this season to take points off Monaco. Jorgensen made two saves and was solid in net despite conceding. Dario Essugo was a half-time substitute and impressed in midfield with his passing and defending. Benoit Badiashile – Napoli It has not been good for Badiashile at Napoli so far. He had a nightmare last week, and this week was an unused substitute in a 1-0 win for his side against Bologna. The victory saw Napoli keep their first clean sheet in four games. Axel Disasi + Honest Anahor – Crystal Palace If Badiashile was bad, then Disasi takes things from bad to worse. The French defender received a red card just 34 minutes into Crystal Palace’s 3-2 defeat to Ipswich. On the plus side, young Honest Anahor — who is infinitely more likely to have a future at Chelsea — looked good despite the result. He also played really well against Middlesbrough in midweek in the Carabao Cup, and is definitely one to watch for the future with an excellent passing range and defensive contribution. Reggie Walsh – Wigan Athletic Reggie Walsh played 70 minutes in Wigan’s 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday. He missed a huge chance to open the scoring with an open goal in front of him, but it ended up being offside anyway. He also came close from 25 yards out and was strong again in a good performance against the third-tier leaders. He is being kept out of the team by the impressive performances of Jean Butez in net, with Como having the chance to go top of Serie A tonight. Mamadou Sarr – Real Sociedad Mamadou Sarr played the full match against Atletico Madrid, which is good — but the game ended 3-0 to Diego Simeone’s side. Despite the result, Sarr was solid. He completed the most passes of anyone on the pitch and was strong in his duels. By the 80th minute, he was a genuine contender to be man of the match. Three goals after the 84th minute made sure that would not be the case, but the result is certainly misleading. And with Chelsea’s defensive woes, a good season could see him brought into their plans sooner rather than later. Dastan Satpayev + Mykhailo Mudryk – INJURED Both Dastan Satpayev at Burnley and Mykhailo Mudryk at Spurs are injured for the foreseeable future. Burnley and Chelsea are having conversations about the Kazakh wonderkid returning to London to do his rehab. That might be better for him than Jamie Vardy offering him Red Bulls up north. Comment now
