The striker, Belgium’s record goalscorer with 93, has now returned to Turkey, a country close to his heart after spending part of his childhood there when his father Roger played for Super Lig side Genclerbirligi. In a message to Fenerbahce supporters, Lukaku said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to be joining your club. “I am fit, 100 per cent, ready to go. It is an emotional moment after many years to be going back to Turkey where I lived as a young kid, where I discovered the professional world as a toddler with my dad.” Lukaku leaves Napoli having won the Serie A title and adds Fenerbahce to a career that has also seen him lift league crowns with Anderlecht and Inter Milan, as well as the Club World Cup with Chelsea.
