CHELSEA have left TWO new summer signings behind as they travel to their pre-season training camp. The Blues confirmed 27 players had travelled to Sydney for the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and Asia. The likes of Morgan Rogers, who just completed a £117m transfer to Stamford Bridge from Aston Villa, are on holiday following a deep run at the World Cup with England, with the same going for club captain Reece James. Both players saw deals with their respective former clubs, Strasbourg and Sporting Lisbon, agreed prior to the opening of the current transfer window, but they have only officially linked up with the team this summer. Dutch forward Emegha, 23, who arrived in a £22m move from Chelsea affiliate club Strasbourg, is understood to have suffered a hamsting injury in a behind-closed-doors friendly win over League One side Bromley at Cobham. The issue for Quenda, an exciting 19-year-old right-sided wide player who cost BlueCo £40m to sign, currently remains unclear. Despite the blow to Alonso’s pre-season plans, both players could yet link up with the squad on tour at a later date. Alonso’s side kick off their pre-season with a clash against Western Sydney Wanderers on July 28 at the Accor Stadium. Their Premier League campaign, in which they are hoping they will make a return to European football, starts with a West London derby away at Fulham – and Alonso’s former Real Madrid team-mate Alvaro Arbeloa.
