Players place one stake to receive multiple spins of the game, all with the aim of spinning in numbers / symbols that match those on their randomly generated card. Each match is a dab. When whole lines (vertical, horizontal or diagonal) are completed, they form a slingo. This is my review of one of Sun Vegas’ exciting new slingos: Slingo Cash Eruption. The game offers players the chance to win up to 10,000x their stake amount. First impression Slingo Cash Eruption takes the player into an ancient temple setting. Your arrival is announced by a single, dramatic drum beat. Behind the play table is a backdrop of carved symbols, stone pillars and flickering fires. LEARN HOW TO PLAY FISHIN’ FRENZY THE BIG CATCH HERE If I’m being harsh, it’s a little on the brown side. Some more colour would have been interesting to see. It’s also not enough of a feast for the eyes to distract from the fact that there’s no background music. Atmospheric noises or warrior music might have been a cool addition. As it stands, you’re left waiting in silence, not exactly a way to excite the player ahead of their session. How to Play With little to keep me exploring the presentation of Slingo Cash Eruption, I moved swiftly onto actually playing. Slingos work by taking a single stake amount and offering players a varying number of spins in exchange. ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CRAZY EIGHTS The average for a slingo is approximately 10 spins, which makes Slingo Cash Eruption’s helping of five spins per bet seem rather stingy. However, in this game’s defence, each spin results in three rows of numbers being revealed, instead of the standard one row. So, the payoff is less spins for more numbers per spin. The choice, as always, is for you to decide whether that’s a format you enjoy. Personally, I prefer the standard 10 spins with five numbers per go. On Slingo Cash Eruption, you can bet between 10p and £5 per game. The stake amount is important because prizes on this game are calculated as a multiplier of your base game bet. Something to bear in mind. To adjust your stake value, select the coins symbol on the right-hand side of the screen. THE SUN VEGAS WEBSITE HAS A NEW LOOK – WHAT DO YOU THINK? Once you’re happy with your bet amount, select the circular spin button and get going on Slingo Cash Eruption. Only at this point do the fires increase dramatically and the thematic music begins. Better late than never, I suppose. How to win Like every slingo, Slingo Cash Eruption essentially works by rewarding players as they dab off whole rows of numbers on their play table. Where slingos start to differentiate themselves is just what this reward looks like. For this particular game, the prizes don’t start until three slingos have been completed. I PLAYED THE AGE OF THE GODS GAMES ON SITE – HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED This is fairly standard for the format but I prefer the games that begin rewarding from the get-go, and I’m sure that I’m not alone in that. From there, the prizes for Slingo Cash Eruption are quite unusual in just how varied they are throughout the pay table. Typically, the prizes are monetary / multipliers throughout, perhaps with some variance towards the higher end of the table (e.g. a bonus game). Slingo Cash Eruption tears up the rulebook in this regard. After zero rewards for slingos one to three, there’s a solitary ‘x1’ multiplier offered for four slingos. After that, slingos five, six and seven offer one, two or three picks on the ‘Hot Pick Bonus’. The remaining slingo levels are rewarded with turns on the Cash Eruption Bonus game, playing on boards of various sizes. While variation is to be applauded, there can be overkill and Slingo Cash Eruption is in danger of that because trying to make sense of the rules without visual aids or a demo video is quite confusing. I can only confidently comment on the Hot Pick Bonus because I got to see it first-hand. That was a cool experience, or more appropriately, a boiling hot experience, as the player is transported to a volcano setting with molten lava. You pick fireballs that reveal either a multiplier value or a trigger for a cash eruption. There’s also the potential to win a jackpot at this point. Speaking of which, Slingo Cash Eruption has four jackpots: Mini (x5), Minor (x25), Major (x100) and Grand (between x1000 and x10,000). DO YOU KNOW HOW TO PLAY HEARTS? They can be won during a cash eruption, which occurs when you achieve eight or more slingos, or, you spin in at least six scatter symbols at once. The player has three lives. Each spin reveals a blank, multiplier or jackpot. The latter two will return the lives’ count to three automatically. The eruption happens (and the bonus ends) when all lives are spent or the whole grid is filled. If the grid is filled, you are awarded the Grand jackpot. The other jackpots can be won throughout this bonus. Interestingly, it’s possible to win more than one jackpot on Slingo Cash Eruption. This isn’t something that all slingo games offer. How much the Grand jackpot is worth depends on how many slingos had been achieved in the base game before the bonus was triggered. TAKE TO THE SEAS WITH THESE GAMES AT SUN VEGAS My verdict Slingo Cash Eruption is a mixed bag for me. I commend its efforts to stand out by changing up how the rewards on the slingo ladder are distributed, its inclusion of jackpots and the multiple bonus games. However, this level of effort should also have been applied to the look and feel of the game. It doesn’t leave a sparkling first impression. It also verges on being too complicated. As someone who looks to get under the bonnet of a game to understand how it works, I was left feeling more confused than I’d have liked. It’s easier to understand once you have placed a stake and played a couple of games but that will cost you. Overall, I’d say it’s worth trying if you’re looking for a slingo game with more to it, just make sure to give the rules a thorough read so that you know what’s going on.
