THE cheapest supermarket to buy a pumpkin right now has been revealed – and it’s not Aldi or Lidl. Shoppers looking to grab a gourd can find them on sale for as little as 39p. Those looking to bag a budget-friendly pumpkin have until November 1 to pick up the orange vegetable ahead of Halloween. For those looking to carve their very own Jack-o’-lantern, a classic pumpkin scans in at 59p. Larger pumpkins, measuring 24 – 28cm will set you back £1.75, while a mini Munchkin pumpkin costs just 39p. The supermarket giant is also selling mixed squash for £1.25 each or two for £2. Trading director for Produce and Horticulture at Morrisons, James Judd, said: “We know Halloween is a much-loved occasion for families, so we want to make it as easy and affordable as possible while continuing to support our British growers with fair prices for their produce. “From our 39p Munchkin Pumpkins to our larger varieties, there’s something for every budget. Most read in Money “Our customers can enjoy a proper Halloween knowing they’re getting great Morrisons value.” While many UK supermarkets are yet to release their pumpkins, or their prices, it does appear that Morrisons has come in on the cheaper end. At Asda, Munchkin Pumpkins scan in at 67p while Aldi is selling the mini pumpkins for 75p each. For those shopping at Sainsbury’s, the tiny vegetables will cost you £1.15 – or £1 with a Nectar card. Last year, a large pumpkin from Tesco – described as “scarily good to carve” – scanned in at £2.00 – making it 15p more expensive than Morrison’ s offering this year. Comment now
