Chase Adds 20% Aeroplan Transfer Bonus — Air Canada Cardholders Can Stack To Redeem At 1.625 Cents Per Point

That means points in a Chase Sapphire Reserve® (See rates and fees), Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (See rates and fees), or Sapphire Preferred, Reserve Business and J.P. Morgan Reserve account yield more Aeroplan points than usual during this offer. This is useful because Aeroplan has a reasonable award chart, no fuel surcharges, and more partner airlines than any other frequent flyer program. However, there are two additional opportunities for folks who also have a Aeroplan® Credit Card (See rates and fees). This new Ultimate Rewards transfer bonus is stackable with the standard 10% transfer bonus that Chase Aeroplan cardmembers get when transferring 50,000 or more Chase points (in a single transaction) to Aeroplan, up to 25,000 bonus Aeroplan points per calendar year. Chase Aeroplan cardmembers can therefore get a 30% bonus on transfers. Aeroplan cardmembers can ‘Pay Yourself Back’ redeeming points against travel (and annual fee) charges at 1.25 ecnts apiece. Travel redemptions are limited to 200,000 points per calendar year.A 30% transfer bonus means that in, effect, these cardmembers can cash out Chase points at 1.625 cents apiece on travel (up to applicable limits). And here many folks have lamented the demise of 1.5 cent per point travel redemptions with Sapphire Reserve. The Aeroplan Card turns qualifying Aeroplan points activity and Chase transfers into a travel currency worth at least 1.25¢ each, but turns Chase points into 1.625 cents apiece in value towards any travel under this current transfer bonus offer. Chase transfer bonuses to Air Canada Aeroplan have been fairly regular since the progam was added as a transfer partner. I wouldn’t transfer speculatively (unless you’re an Aeroplan cardholder also, looking to cash out your Chase points at 1.625 cents apiece). However, even the 20% transfer bonus can be a good opportunity to take advantage of available award space where East Coast transatlantic business class (up to 4,000 miles) runs 60,000 Aeroplan points each way, while transpaciifc business class up to 7,500 miles runs 85,000 Aeroplan points.
