It was announced in August that Hunnam co-developed the meta thriller series Legends. Set to air on FX and stream on Hulu, the premise reunites the Sons of Anarchy cast. They'll all be playing fictionalized versions of themselves, including Hunnam, coming together for an event, albeit things swiftly spiral out of control. Perlman, who played Clay, is one of several actors already cast in Legends. Now, in a new interview with Deadline to discuss his upcoming role as Hemingway in a biopic, Perlman also dives into Legends and reveals that the spinoff will begin filming in March 2027. In the quote below, the Hellboy legend explains why he hopes to finish work on the Cuba-set biopic before cameras roll on Legends: I’m trying to get Hemingway finished before we start filming Legends, which is slated to be sometime in March. I always wanted to film the Hemingway movie in January or February because it’s a little bit cooler in Havana, and after that it gets brutally hot and hard to wear prosthetics, which I obviously will do. Hunnam developed Legends with Jonathan Groff, a writer on Happy Endings and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. The story begins when the stars reunite at a convention more than a decade after Sons of Anarchy ended. Reality and fiction soon begin to overlap, creating what the official logline calls a “fractured brotherhood.” Before long, the actors are forced to confront a genuine threat more dangerous than anything they encountered on the series. Although it was noted after the initial announcement that there would be more casting announcements, Perlman jokes in the same interview that it is safe to rule out Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, saying in part: “Not over my dead body.” A bevy of familiar faces passed through Sons of Anarchy during its seven-season run, including Community's Joel McHale, Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Charisma Carpenter, and Bosch star Titus Welliver. Sheridan's exit, at the start of season 3, may have hit the hardest. His character, Deputy Hale, was one of the good guys. Scratch & Peek Identify the cover art while scratching off as little foil as possible. Legends, which is Hunnam and Groff alongside Rob Mac, Nicholas Frenkel, and Jackie Cohn, is leaving all of that behind. It notably does not have the involvement of franchise creator Kurt Sutter, though he's given the project his blessing. Perlman is complimentary as well, albeit he does not pull back the curtain outside of what is already revealed in the logline. That may be because Legends is something fairly new. Actors playing themselves in a comedy is somewhat common, whether in The Studio or Curb Your Enthusiasm. An entire cast reuniting for a thriller is a rarer endeavor. Before filming starts, there will likely be more concrete details about what to expect and who else could join the ensemble.
