COMO Women’s Team have extended striker Roberta Picchi’s contract until 2028 after the Italian star was diagnosed with breast cancer. The 34-year-old forward is preparing to begin treatment, with the newly-promoted Serie A club vowing to stand by her throughout her recovery. In an official club statement, Como said: “Como 1907 can confirm that Roberta Picchi has been diagnosed with breast cancer following a series of medical examinations. “Roberta will now begin her treatment, supported throughout by the Club’s medical team, who will work closely with the specialists responsible for her care. “Everyone at Como 1907 is alongside Roberta and will give her and her family all the support they need during the months ahead. “As part of that continued commitment, the Club has also renewed Roberta’s contract until the end of the 2027/28 season. “At this time, we ask that Roberta’s privacy is respected as she focuses on her treatment and recovery.” Picchi joined Como last year and played a key role in their historic promotion campaign.
