‘Chakrasnanam’ marks culmination of Tirumala Brahmotsavams

Priests immersing the idol of Lord Chakrathalwar in the ‘Pushkarini’ waters, signalling the conclusion of Brahmotsavams in Tirumala on Wednesday. The nine-day annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara culminated in Tirumala on Wednesday with ‘Chakrasnanam’ drawing thousands of devotees to the holy ‘Pushkarini’ for the auspicious ritual.In the early hours, the processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy, accompanied by His two consorts and Lord Chakrathalwar, were taken in a ceremonial procession to the temple of Lord Bhu Varahaswamy situated on the banks of the ‘Pushkarini’ (temple tank).Amid the chanting of Vedic hymns, priests performed the ceremonial ‘Thirumanjanam’ for the deities before proceeding to the most sacred moment of the ritual. At the designated muhurtam, the priests immersed the idol of ‘Chakrathalwar’ in the tank waters, marking the traditional conclusion of the Brahmotsavams.The moment drew an overwhelming response from devotees who had gathered on the steps of the temple tank. As the sacred immersion took place, thousands plunged into the ‘Pushkarini’ to take a holy dip, lending the occasion an atmosphere of deep religious fervour.The Brahmotsavams, which commenced on September 15, witnessed a series of grand processions featuring Lord Malayappa Swamy on different vahanams over the nine days, attracting devotees from across the country.The festivities formally concluded in the evening with ‘Dwajavarohanam’, the ceremonial lowering of the Garuda flag from atop the temple ‘Dwajasthambam’, signifying the conclusion of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavams.
