CET: Third round provisional results announced, Choice 4 introduced

A view of the Karnataka Examinations Authority in Bengaluru. | Photo Credit: File photo The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) announced the provisional results of the third round of seat allotment for engineering and other courses on Friday (September 4).For the convenience of candidates who have newly been allotted seats in the third round, the authority has, for the first time, introduced a Choice-4 option. Such candidates can select Choice-4 by 5 p.m. on Saturday (September 5) and exit the counselling process, said H. Prasanna, Executive Director of KEA.However, candidates who were allotted seats in the second round, took admission in the college, and participated in the third round only for upgradation must mandatorily continue with their college admission. They will not be given the Choice-4 option. Such candidates must therefore wait for the final results.After the final results are announced, candidates must mandatorily take admission in the allotted college without citing any reason for not doing so. If a candidate decides that they do not want the engineering seat, they will have to pay the prescribed fee along with a penalty of five times the fee. The authority also warned that such cases will be considered blocking of a government quota seat, and legal action may be taken against the candidates.KEA officials said that after including all the seats vacated by candidates who choose Choice-4, the authority will re-run the third-round seat allotment by considering the existing options/preferences and then announce the final results.The third-round results also include courses such as Architecture, Yoga and Naturopathy, Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Science, BSc Nursing, BPharm, Pharm-D, BPT, BPO, and Allied Health Sciences.
