Central GST Superintendent caught taking ₹8 lakh bribe in Bengaluru

The official was caught taking the bribe in his office in Kendriya Sadan at Koramangala in Bengaluru. | Photo Credit: File photo A Central GST (CGST) Superintendent and a private individual were arrested by the Bengaluru City Lokayukta police on September 17 for allegedly demanding and taking a ₹8-lakh bribe to close a complaint against a city-based businessman.The accused public servant has been identified as Mohit Pratap Singh, Superintendent, CGST, South Division-4, South Commissionerate. The second accused is Salman Sheikh, a private individual who allegedly acted as a mediator in the transaction.According to the Lokayukta police, the duo allegedly demanded ₹8 lakh from Syed Zameer to close a complaint filed against him in connection with a pending Central GST matter.Acting on a complaint by Mr. Zameer, the Bengaluru City Lokayukta team caught the duo taking the bribe in the chamber of the Superintendent in the Kendriya Sadan at Koramangala.The Lokayukta police subsequently arrested the two accused.
