Censor clears Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 with U/A 16+, orders 9 modifications

Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 has been certified UA 16+ by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), with the examining committee directing the makers to implement nine modifications before its theatrical release. The changes include toned-down violence, muted expletives, and the addition of anti-drug, anti-smoking and child trafficking disclaimers.According to the censor certificate dated August 5, the film has been approved for viewers aged 16 and above with parental guidance. Its final approved runtime stands at 140 minutes and 20 seconds, and it will be released in Hindi with English subtitles, as reported by Bollywood Hungama.Among the modifications directed by the CBFC, the makers have been asked to include disclaimers related to drug use and child trafficking. The Board also instructed them to display the film's Hindi title, add anti-drug messages at multiple points and include a static anti-smoking warning.The CBFC further ordered several changes to the film's language and action sequences. Obscene words were directed to be replaced in both the audio and subtitles, while multiple scenes featuring graphic violence were shortened. In one particular sequence, the intensity of violence was reduced by 50 per cent. A scene depicting drug snorting was also edited, and the end credits were revised to align with the film's background music. In total, the Board directed 4 minutes of deletions and 20 seconds of replacements, resulting in a final runtime of 140 minutes and 20 seconds.Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 stars Emraan Hashmi alongside Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. The sequel builds on the emotional core of the 2007 cult film while introducing a darker revenge-driven narrative.
