Celebrity Traitors star Maya Jama swipes back at nasty insult in deleted tweet

Fans have jumped to Maya Jama’s defence (Picture: BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/BBC Creative) Maya Jama has rightfully fired back at a Celebrity Traitors viewer who rudely claimed that she was ‘being a cow’ in the latest episode. On Thursday night, fans of the BBC show watched in shock as James Acaster refused to help his fellow Traitors Maya and King Kenny during the mission. While the Faithfuls were blindfolded, it was up to the Traitors to remove their blindfolds and sneakily creep around the room, dismantling the shields that the Faithfuls were trying to make, and assembling their own to help win money for the prize pot. However, James didn’t move, nor did he even remove his blindfold to help communicate with Maya and Kenny during the challenge, as he claimed that he was too scared about Michael Sheen and Sebastian ‘Bash’ Croft cottoning onto him from either side. Maya and Kenny were understandably annoyed, as they had to put their own games at risk to creep around the room and do what they could to complete the mission. Later on in the Turret, they called James out on his actions. He admitted his fear, while also acknowledging that he was beginning to enjoy being a Traitor more after managing to murder Ross Kemp in plain sight, prompting Maya to say that she was proud of him. However, despite Maya taking it relatively easy on James, considering he left her and Kenny high and dry during the mission, she’s had to deal with some nasty comments online. One viewer called Debs G wrote on X: ‘Maya being a cow towards James. He did the murder in plain sight while she sat there doing pathetic fake yawns. Bash and Michael are two of the strongest clued faithfuls and James is between them. ‘She has her fellow traitor next to her (and still messes up).’ In a now-deleted tweet, Maya responded to the viewer directly to defend her justifiable actions. ‘I wasn’t a cow at all & I may delete this later but it’s been so interesting watching the takes of some accounts on here when if it was the other way round I would be called all sorts as I already am in this thread..’ she said. He’s not a team player and deserves to be called out on it.’ ImASillyGoose stated about the Love Island host: ‘She was actually incredibly patient and considerate with him considering (keep in mind I do get his reasonings for doing what he did) he had essentially just stabbed her in the back. This is just blatant misogyny.’ JTMUFC19 tweeted: ‘I don’t think she was a cow, he wouldn’t even take of blind fold nevermind move,’ while AB asked: ‘How’s she being a cow? She literally smiled and said she was proud of him.’ Another viewer called Rice tweeted that James has been their celebrity crush since they were 14 – but even they didn’t approve of his gameplay. ‘It was kinda whack for the rest the Traitors that he just didn’t even attempt the mission, like yes Maya messed up, but at least she gave it a go.
