Celebrity Traitors star James Blunt reveals heavy James Acaster interrogation was ‘cut’

| Senior TV Reporter Published November 4, 2026 9:54am Updated November 4, 2026 9:54am James Blunt has said there was more to James Acaster’s final roundtable than made it to air (Picture: BBC) James Blunt has said that BBC viewers did not see ‘the full extent’ of what unfolded at the Celebrity Traitors roundtable before James Acaster confessed he was a Traitor. The singer, 52, said that there was more to the sequence than was shown in the penultimate episode of the ratings smash season. Blunt has hinted that the comedian was actually caught in a lie about the perfume bottle, which was used to murder Ross Kemp in plain sight in the castle killing that ultimately spelt doom for the turret. The full complement of Traitors were in the library when Kemp was yawned to death, so the Faithful turned their attention to Acaster, Maya Jama and King Kenny, who had been going undetected. Blunt has since told BBC News that a portion of that roundtable did not air, in which the Faithful supposedly got Acaster bang to rights before he admitted it all. The You’re Beautiful singer told the publication: ‘He didn’t fall on his sword. That’s what you saw, that’s what you feel, but he didn’t.’ The comedian immediately threw in the towel and admitted he had been recruited as an unwilling Traitor (Picture: BBC/Studio Lambert/Euan Cherry) To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video He added: ‘You didn’t see the full extent of the interrogation. It was heavy in there and it was clear-cut. He was pinned to a post. We got him. We really, really got him. ‘I think how that played out hasn’t really been revealed to you, but he didn’t just say, “Oh guys, you got me”.’ The moment indeed left some viewers puzzled, given that Michael Sheen shared his theory that Acaster must have been the one to murder Kemp, only for the comedian to immediately throw in the towel and admit he had been recruited as an unwilling Traitor. Elsewhere in the interview, Blunt said that he was left ‘screaming at the screen’ during certain moments in this series, but for a ‘different reason’ to the viewers. ‘You didn’t see the full extent of the interrogation… He was pinned to a post. We got him’ (Picture: BBC/Studio Lambert/Euan Cherry) He rather cryptically added: ‘No matter what really went on in that castle, you’re a victim to the edit.’ During Acaster’s exit interview, the comedian claimed he had been contemplating that roundtable reveal for some time, after he was made the show’s first reluctant Traitor. Acaster went on to say it was a ‘surprise’ when Sheen turned the suspicion on him at the roundtable, given that he went into the roundtable with ‘no heat whatsoever’ but added: ‘I was glad that they caught me.’ Metro contacted the BBC for comment on this story.
