Celebrity Traitors bosses forced to scrap huge cliffhanger plans after ‘unthinkable’ incident

The new star-studded season has just started airing and has already provided some unbelievable TV with Richard. E. Grant was chosen as a Traitor and immediately outed himself as one. It has led us to an agonising week-long cliffhanger in which viewers are waiting to see if the 69-year-old will be banished from the round table or cling on by the skin of his teeth. Now, it appears that there are plenty more twists and turns to come, with one point throwing the whole castle into such chaos that bosses had to scrap their original cliffhanger idea and pivot after this ‘unthinkable’ incident. The bosses acknowledge that the cliffhangers on the show are ‘legendary’ from Diana’s poisoned chalice to the tiebreaker between David and Mark Bonner, and keep track of potential endings. However, a source told The Sun: ‘So they plot out likely moments in gameplay that will be the Friday cliffhangers.’ The show is used to twists and turns but an upcoming one was so unexpected even producers were left scrambling (Picture: BBC/Studio Lambert/Euan Cherry) ‘But during filming, something so unbelievable happened that even execs didn’t see it coming. ‘It forced them to throw plans out the window to accommodate the epic moment – which should make great TV.’ Time will tell exactly what it is and whether the audience will recognise just how special the moment is. As executive producer Sarah Fray explained early on: ‘We always have an idea before going into pre-production what might be cliffhangers, but we have to be so reactive because who knows what the story is going to be.’ With Richard likely getting booted out the front door this evening, theories are flying about left, right and centre over what direction the Traitors game play could take next. One theory involves newly-recruited, reluctant Traitor James bringing on board the whip-smart Bella Ramsey. With Richard E. Grant likely on his way out, lots of theories are flying about (Picture: :BBC/Studio Lambert/Euan Cherry) Another theory is that the Traitors would recruit tonight to spare Professor Hannah Fry from murder as the only person on the shortlist alongside Jerry Hall. Meanwhile, the new season is already weaving itself into the fabric of British culture. In the past couple episodes, people have been tickled pink by Ross Kemp’s paranoid behaviour – including Prince William. He’s been worried that anything and everything could be a sign of him being murdered in plain sight including Bella whacking a sailor’s hat in plan sight and Leigh-Anna Pinnock giving him a wick shoulder rub while it was cold. Celebrity Traitors airs on BBC One at 8pm every Thursday and Friday night. Metro has reached out to BBC for comment.
