The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened applications for private candidates appearing for the 2027 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations.The online application process begins on October 8 and will remain open without late fee until October 23.WHO CAN REGISTER FOR CBSE PRIVATE CANDIDATE?Class 10 and 12 students can apply if they fall into these categories:Students declared Essential Repeat in the 2026 board examination. Students placed in Compartment in the 2026 examination.Students declared Fail or Essential Repeat in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026. Students who passed in 2026 and want to improve performance in one or more subjects.Students who received a roll number but could not appear in 2026 for medical reasons, except shortage of attendance.For Class 10, students placed in compartment in two subjects can opt for five, six or seven subjects. For Class 12, compartment candidates can opt for all subjects they appeared in during 2026.THE FORM WINDOW IS OPENEligible candidates have to submit the form online through the private candidate section of the CBSE website. Only one application can be submitted, and a working email ID is required for OTP verification.Students who appeared in 2026 will see their details auto-generated, while those from 2025 or earlier must enter their roll number and year of passing.The normal fee window is October 8 to October 23. A late fee of Rs 2,000 can be paid from October 24 to October 30.FEES AND EXAM CENTRE RULESThe fee is Rs 320 per additional subject in India, Rs 1,100 in Nepal and Rs 2,200 in other countries.
