CBS places Tony Romo on leave "until further notice"

In the eight days since Tony Romo was arrested in Wisconsin for suspicion of operating while intoxicated, CBS had said nothing.On Friday morning, it said plenty — in a one-sentence press release:“Tony Romo is on leave from his role at CBS Sports until further notice.”Romo’s long-term status will depend largely on his contract. He surely could be terminated at any time. Unless the arrest falls within the definition of a termination with cause, CBS will have to keep paying him.The statement doesn’t reveal whether CBS initiated the leave or whether Romo requested it. It also doesn’t address who will replace him on the network’s No. 1 NFL broadcast team with Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson.Romo became the top analyst at CBS in 2017. He’s reportedly making $18 million per year.
