Warning: this article contains spoilers for FBI season 9, episode 3, "White Rock."FBI has been more serialized than usual over season 9's first few episodes, all thanks to the cliffhanger from last spring that shook the foundation of the 26 Fed team. Instead of resolving the plot twist right away in network TV's 2026 fall premiere lineup, the hit CBS drama followed OA during his undercover investigation into Anna Vorpe. The stakes had never been higher for OA, with Maggie far away and without his usual protection from the Bureau. Now, as of the end of "White Rock," fans should expect to see major changes. Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki have led the cast as Maggie and OA from the very beginning, and they've developed one of the strongest partnerships within Dick Wolf's TV universe without any romance. That said, the best-known stars came to FBI from another show in the Wolf Entertainment world: Law & Order's Jeremy Sisto and Alana De La Garza. Other agents have come and gone, but these four have been at the core. Other than a few death scares, FBI never gave much reason to doubt that they'd always be part of the team until CBS' 2026 fall premiere schedule. Fortunately, in the wake of "White Rock," FBI has confirmed that Zeeko Zaki isn't actually going anywhere, despite OA's close call with death (and elimination from the Bureau in season 8). While that's great news for the partnership that's been at the heart of FBI for nearly a decade, it also means that the cast is almost certainly going to have to change this fall. OA's Return In FBI Season 9 Forces Isaiah Green Out Image via MovieStillsDB At the end of season 8, OA's future as Maggie's partner was grim. Not only was he heading undercover for a dangerous investigation into Anna Vorpe, but he'd been fired from the Bureau. "White Rock" confirmed early on that OA truly had been fired, and ADIC Green hadn't been in on the plot to send OA undercover to go after Anna. In a surprise twist, however, Green joined the investigation when he finally caught on that Isobel was running an unsanctioned op out of 26 Fed. With Green, Jubal, Scola, and Eva joining in, OA had a full team working to close the case and bring him home safely. The biggest wild card was Isaiah Green, who was kept out of the mission despite his status as Maggie's new partner. He ultimately came through, and helping the team may lead to him being ousted from it sooner rather than later. Now that OA is back with the Bureau, Isaiah's days are numbered. All signs point towards Isobel restoring Maggie and OA's partnership, and ADIC Green's unexpected cooperation in the Anna Vorpe case suggests that he won't interfere with Isobel's judgment. The preview for the next FBI episode, called "Reticence," confirms that Maggie and OA will be in the thick of the action. Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki are back together, which is only bad news for one person. Green, played by Chicago Med's Roland Buck III, will be missing a partner. As the newest field agent on the team, it's far more likely that Green will be ousted from 26 Fed than Scola or Eva. Even though he stepped up and earned Maggie's trust enough to join the secret mission to take down Anna, Maggie doesn't seem nearly attached enough to him to try and keep him around in the long term. While he will be back for at least one more episode, "White Rock" was almost certainly the beginning of the end for Buck. What Will Happen To Green In FBI? Paramount+ Agents have left the team in a variety of ways over the years, and some have been bloodier than others. While Tiff exited on her own terms, Rina and Dani were both killed off. Considering Green is new enough to the team that his death wouldn't pack too much of an emotional punch, the odds seem good that he'll still be alive when he leaves FBI. After how he proved himself over the past three episodes, a move to FBI: Most Wanted or even FBI: International would have once been a possibility, if not for CBS cancelling the spinoffs. Green could simply be moved to another division of the Bureau in the wake of OA reassuming his place as Maggie's partner. Scola cycled through a number of different partners after losing Tiff, so it's not unprecedented for agents to come in and out of FBI. That said, it's worth noting that the next episode could reveal that Green isn't quite as excellent an agent as he seemed. CBS' logline for "Reticence" reveals: The team investigates a missing infant and a string of murders as it all connects to a rocket propulsion company on the verge of going public. They struggle to find the truth when their investigation points to the daunting conclusion that the suspect is one of their own. Roland Buck III has been confirmed to appear in "Reticence," so it's possible that he'll be a suspect when the investigation of the week points towards an inside man. That's not to say that FBI is going to end his arc by revealing that Green is a criminal, especially without using any of the first three episodes to drop any clues that he has a dark side. Maggie's hesitation to trust him was due to his connections to the ADIC, not because there was any sign he's shady. Even if he is suspected of a crime in the next new episode, his exit will likely be much more mundane. Much like Tiff before him, Green could simply leave the team alive and well. The FBI world is still large, despite the cancellations of the two spinoffs. He can easily transfer to a new division off-screen, and FBI can return to the status quo of OA and Maggie without doing anything to damage Green's character. The next new episode will air on Monday, October 26 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
