Sign in to your ScreenRant account Warning! SPOILERS about Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 3, episode 3.The premise for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage always included a specific villain, whom season 3 just began to redeem. Being Young Sheldon’s sequel and The Big Bang Theory’s prequel meant First Marriage had some characters whose roles had already been established by the other TV shows in The Big Bang Theory franchise. Among them, Mary Cooper shined as a villain at times, with her behavior establishing her as such both in The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 3 beginning with Georgie and Mary’s vicious fight over Fred Fagenbacher’s true motives partially confirmed Mary’s role in the Young Sheldon spinoff. The fight itself took center stage in First Marriage season 3’s premiere, when Georgie and Mary gave their worst, escalating the feud. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 3, episode 2 tackled their problems more subtly, as Fagenbacher still proved a problem indirectly, motivating both Mary and Georgie to fight over his presence at the restaurant, even if their fight was more about their stances than Fagenbacher himself. While this inevitably proved that Mary’s reputation persisted in First Marriage, she was never the Young Sheldon spinoff’s main villain. That role always belonged to Audrey McAllister, and the caustic remarks that often had Georgie and Mandy at their center. However, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 3, episode 3, “A Germ Factory and a Good Mother,” began Audrey’s redemption arc in the most unexpected way, which could change the Young Sheldon spinoff as a result. CeeCee Going To Preschool Helps Audrey & Mandy Reconnect In First Marriage CBS Audrey fought Mandy’s decision to send CeeCee to preschool hard at the beginning of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 3, episode 3, taking it as if Mandy was trying to wrong her personally instead of just doing what she believed was right for CeeCee. Finding it hard to leave CeeCee made Mandy partially understand where Audrey was coming from. When Mandy saw Audrey drinking and joined her, it was easier for her to admit that she felt as if every decision she made was wrong, especially as, on the other side, Audrey was understanding. Instead of being her usual unforgiving self, Audrey not only didn’t blame the preschool or Mandy, but also simply offered wisdom in the form of “Welcome to being a mom.” Such a reaction hints at a change in the dynamic between Audrey and Mandy being possible. At least in that moment, Audrey has no judgment over Mandy’s choices, instead deciding only to support her daughter. While the CBS show addressed the difference by playing it for laughs through Mandy’s comment about how much Audrey had drunk before, it also undoubtedly set up Audrey’s redemption arc in First Marriage. How Audrey's Redemption Changes Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Audrey and Mandy’s moment won’t rewrite their bond as Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage depicted it until now. However, a more understanding Audrey can be good for the Young Sheldon spinoff, as it shows her capacity for change and doesn’t box Audrey in a role that is a caricature instead of one showing complexity. This can be incredibly good for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage as it avoids repetitiveness. Even just a slightly different dynamic makes Audrey and Mandy’s bond less antagonistic, showing growth, particularly considering where they started, with Audrey kicking her out when she discovered Georgie and Mandy’s relationship in Young Sheldon and that he got her pregnant. Their bond can nevertheless also make the villain status of another character more evident. While Mary indubitably supported Georgie when she helped him buy McAllister Auto with Ruben, her behavior often made her an antagonist. This was especially true in relation to Mary and Audrey’s difficult bond, riddled with competition and jealousy. Although the two both judged each other harshly, Audrey was the one who more often than not tried to compromise.
