Casualty’s Melanie Hill and Neet Mohan on ‘apocalyptic’ event in 40th anniversary episodes

So, what do we know so far? The instalments, airing on Saturday, September 5, will focus on an explosion that takes place at St James’ hospital. With Clinical Lead Flynn Byron (Olly Rix) across town helping the people stuck in the chaos, it’s up to Dylan Keogh (William Beck) to lead Holby ED as numerous patients from the site are admitted. Right in the middle of the drama, Dylan faces a personal tragedy. As he attempts to get his head around what’s happened, it’s vital that he doesn’t lose his cool. His entire team is relying on him – can Dylan keep it together? Revealing more about what to expect on Saturday, star Melanie Hill, who plays Siobhan McKenzie, told me: Siobhan and Rash are two characters at the heart of the episodes (Picture: BBC STUDIOS/ALISTAIR HEAP/MATT BURLEM) ‘The stakes are a lot higher as well, obviously with the opening sort of five seconds, this massive apocalyptic thing happens. You’ve added another layer of stress onto them all. And the fact that, any minute, somebody could come into A&E, with a bag that could cause a massive tragedy.’ Confirming that the second episode is just as intense as the first one, she added: ‘It keeps ramping up and ramping up. I would like to mention the second episode as well, because there’s so much to say about the first, and it’s amazing, but come the second, you really think it cannot get any worse, and then you get taken out of the hospital – I think that is so clever – and into something else which involves three of the team. ‘The stress level on that is next level. Neet Mohan’s character Rash Masum became a qualified consultant in the previous boxset, which means it’s his first shift in his new role in these episodes. Honestly, he picks his moments! Discussing how Rash feels now he’s swapped the green scrubs for blue ones, Neet shared in our chat: ‘I think there was a real relief about getting there.
