In a little over a week, Castlevania will finally be coming back after more than a decade of just remastered collections and the Netflix series to keep fans going. Belmont’s Curse marks a new start for the series, and one that will hopefully push it back to mainstream appeal and remind Konami why it’s such a big deal. As exciting as Belmont’s Curse is, though, fans are still wondering what is planned for the series in the future. We recently got a tease for the long-awaited 3D collection, but it’s obviously a brand-new game that everyone wants to see most. Thankfully, it sounds like we won’t have to wait quite as long to see that come to fruition. We Won’t Be Waiting Another Decade For A New Castlevania A Reboot Has Been Rumoured For Quite Some Time Now As pointed out by Nintendo Everything, Castlevania producer Tsutomu Taniguchi recently had the chance to speak with Famitsu ahead of the launch of Belmont’s Curse. During the interview, Famitsu points out that Belmont’s Curse is the 40th anniversary title, before asking what the series looks like going forward. In response, Taniguchi notes that the team is “pouring all our energy” into Belmont’s Curse, before saying that the specifics of the future aren’t quite decided yet. The producer says that development started on Belmont’s Curse in the first place because not enough people were playing the games, even if they had heard of the series. With that in mind, Taniguchi notes that releasing the next game in another ten years would make Konami’s revival plan “meaningless”, hinting that it won’t be quite so long. The producer doesn’t know what “shape that will take” right now, but it does imply that there are some plans in place for what comes next. It’s an interesting claim considering it’s been reported for quite some time now that a series reboot for Castlevania was in the works. It’s not clear whether that’d be a Symphony of the Night style game or a 3D entry like Lords of Shadow, but, if it’s real, it’s clear Konami has more long-term plans for the Belmonts.
