(Probably a character limit.)It’s just one of the pieces that makes up Castlery’s vast collection of contemporary furnishings. This sofa hit every mark for me, including a chaise sectional for lounging, a pullout mattress for hosting guests, and hidden storage for a makeshift extra closet in my tiny New York City apartment. Are there payment plans available?The sectional sleeper is a midrange investment piece, with the version I chose costing $3,799. If you don’t need the chaise sectional, there is a version with just the sofa sleeper, priced at $2,299. And if both of those sound cost-prohibitive to you, there are payment plans with Affirm starting at $132 per month.Like other Castlery sofas, the Hamilton collection includes a wide variety of configurations at different price points. If you like the look but don’t need all the frills, there are Hamiltons of all shapes and sizes available—loveseats, chairs, three-seater sofas, you name it. Among them, the armchair is priced the lowest at $999.What are the upholstery or customization options? Did you choose any?Although the standard Hamilton sofa comes in a wide variety of fabric and upholstery options, the sleeper is only available in the Performance Marcel fabric in Brilliant White. And while a white couch can be very high-risk, Castlery claims that the Performance fabric is spill-resistant. Thankfully, I haven’t had to put that to the test yet, though it has withstood the constant parkour routine and claws of two extraordinarily energetic kittens. The fabric has a textured weave that elevates the sofa, adding depth and making it more interesting than your standard white couch.What is the lead time for customization, manufacturing, and delivery?The huge upside to a couch as standardized as this one is that it ships extraordinarily quickly. Mine came within two weeks of the order, and the website shows it can be delivered between 5 and 12 days from the order date depending on where you live.What kind of couch or seating arrangement did you have before, and what drew you to your new couch?I recently moved into a new apartment, and my last couch—also a sectional—wasn’t the right arrangement for my space. This apartment is much nicer than my last. I upgraded from a fourth-floor walk-up to a building with an elevator and an in-unit thermostat after years of freezing winters and sweltering summers. But, in classic New York City fashion, my much nicer space is now also much smaller.My partner and I are true couch people and love to lie around, so getting another sectional was the obvious choice. We also no longer have a guest room, so we were looking for a sleeper sofa in order to still be able to host. Not just any sleeper sofa, though, a seating unicorn: a stylish, comfortable, non-bulky sleeper sectional. It didn’t even occur to me to look for storage—I was already being greedy with my requirements—so when I found the Hamilton, it skyrocketed to the top of the short list.Delivery & AssemblyPhoto: Susie PlotkinPhoto: Susie PlotkinWhat was the delivery process like?Castlery offers three tiers of delivery: Standard ($0), which just drops off the sofa on the ground floor of your building; Room of Choice ($50–$70), which is delivered right to your, uh, room of choice (up to two flights of stairs without additional fees); and White Glove ($100–$150), which includes the benefits from Room of Choice plus unpacking, assembly, and garbage removal. I asked for White Glove service, and once the order processed, I was able to choose the delivery date and time window that worked best for me with the specialized carrier that handled the delivery.What was the assembly process like? How long did it take and how many people?Because I got white-glove delivery, the assembly process was a breeze (...for me, at least). The assembly took the two delivery men less than half an hour, start-to-finish, from unboxing to removing the trash—the most underrated aspect of white-glove service. Although it’s the Swiss Army Knife of couches, it was conveniently delivered in just two boxes.After InstallationPhoto: Susie PlotkinWhat are the dimensions? How does it fit in your space? Would it be better suited for a certain type of home?The sofa is 116" W x 34" H x 67" D, with the sleeper extending the depth to 89 inches. I was worried it would be too big for my living room, but it fits perfectly in the space—especially because I can use the chaise storage as my new linen closet and remove blankets and clutter from the rest of the room.Sit test: Is it comfortable? Does it feel well-made? Does the couch have a tendency to sag?It is extremely comfortable! The middle seat is a hair stiffer than the others because of the pullout mattress, but even that is very lounge-able. It feels well-made and durable, and because the high-density memory foam cushions retain their shape, the couch doesn’t sag.Lying down test: Is it comfortable? Does it feel well-made? Does the couch have a tendency to sag?We’ve already had people sleep on both the pullout mattress and directly on the chaise; both got glowing reviews. It’s adaptable based on the style of the room, but it won’t be the conversation starter.Is it durable and practical in a modern home? Is the couch kid- and/or dog-friendly?It has survived my kittens’ zoomies, scratches, and constant climbing up and jumping off valiantly so far, despite my best efforts to keep them off it. If I had kids, though, I’d be more hesitant. Although it’s described as stain-resistant, the cushion covers are dry-clean only, so the white upholstery might be too much of a risk.Do the photos do this product justice? Was there anything you were surprised to see IRL?The photos do well by the couch, which by definition means it’s very photogenic—great for making my home look chic in photos.Would the couch be easy to move into another room? Would it be easy to move to another apartment or home by yourself?Definitely not.
